Jow Ga Background & Development
Origins
- Jow Ga is a Southern Chinese style of Kung Fu, which originated in the early 1900's.
Development
- Jow Lung developed the Jow style through combining the famous kung fu styles of
- Hung Ga and Choy Ga (Southern Shaolin)
- With essence of Bak Sil Lum (Northern Shaolin).
Practitioner characteristics
- A practitioner of this form is trained to have powerful bridge-arms, that offer him a strong guard against his enemy, and simultaneously, they allow him to render his opponent powerful destructive attacks as desired.
- As well, a follower of this form is also trained to have fast moving steps that enable him to advance and retreat freely at will.
Creating circular flow
- Speed and power combine with the grace and beauty
of flowing circular movements.
- It is this combination of heavy punches and swift
steps that make it a formidable style, which is much adored by Kung Fu enthusiasts.
Chinese Army Endorsement
- General Li Fook Lam in the early years of the Republic of China selected Jow Lung to teach his Jow Style of Kung Fu to the Chinese army.
